Dr. Caiphas Chekwoti
Dr Caiphas Chekwoti
Head of Centre, ESAMI-TRAPCA
Dr. Chekwoti champions strategic international trade capacity building designed to foster the growth and development of African economies. He is currently the Head of ESAMI-trapca. He is a principal management consultant and trade policy expert.
He holds a PhD degree in economics from the University of Dar es Salaam. He has over 25 years’ experience in training at university level and has been involved in international trade policy training for over 15 years.
Before joining ESAMI, he was a lecturer of Economics at Makerere University, Uganda. Prior to teaching, he was an economist in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Uganda.
He has been involved in various research and consultancies on trade policy as well as development issues. His current research interests include trade reforms, trade policy, innovation, trade in services, firm competitiveness, and development.
