Scientific Research & Grant Writing Workshop

Evidence-based policy and data-driven decision making are imperatives in today’s dynamic economic, social and geo-political order. Evidently research has become transdisciplinary, and quest for meta-data to address wicked problems has heightened. Consequently, the urgency to re-tool established researchers, improve research data quality and mentor emerging researchers, even as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Open Science (OS) continues to shape the ways research is governed has become greater.

Research ecosystems are rapidly evolving, but supportive infrastructure, institutional systems and funding remain a challenge. Locating research grants, fit-for-purpose research partners at country and multi-country level, assembling a research grant writing team with the requisite skills that are complimentarity and designing a robust research grant proposal requires both skill and tact.

Research grant providers expect prudent use of resources, both tangible and intangible. Translation of research findings into policy briefs, utilization of research findings to frame the policy agenda, inform evidence-based policy formulation, drive innovation and research outputs that create impact at the societal level have remained a challenge, the import of research to solve existing challenges in the society notwithstanding.
