Strategic Organizational Change Management in the Public Sector
Change is the only constant thing in the globalized world today. Public sector leaders and managers have to constantly plan and implement competitive changes in policy formulation and in the delivery of service to well informed citizenry for the government of the day to remain relevant, responsive and responsible. Traditional systems are changing and so are the development partners. At the national level, there is increased geo- political positioning and repositioning so as to improve the country’s competitiveness. Public servants have to be in the forefront of identifying new avenues for change, implement and manage change in their sectors
and across sectors.
This programme aims to address the need for specialized training in Strategic Change Management, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to lead and manage successful change initiatives in the public sector
The Programme is designed for senior government officials assigned to or responsible for implementing public sector reforms and institutionalizing performance management. The Programme is equally useful for policy formulators and those responsible for development planning.
At the end of the Programme, participants will be able to:
- Develop methods for institutional/organizational analysis and environmental scanning;
- Carry out stakeholders analysis before introducing change;
- Use scenario-based planning to identify sources of change;
- Practice vision formulation and competitive positioning;
- Analyze tools for introducing and managing change;
- Build capacity to handle the human dimension of change in the public sector and overcome resistance.
