Management of Environmental and Social Safeguards in Projects
Effective management of environmental and social safeguards is crucial in the implementation of development projects. Development partners, including the World Bank and AfDB, have established policies and standards to ensure that projects prioritize the well-being of people and the environment. Compliance with these safeguards is essential for securing funding and successfully executing projects.
This programme addresses the need for professionals to have a deep understanding of environmental and social safeguard policies and their practical application in project management. Participants will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to assess and mitigate potential risks and impacts associated with project activities. By applying academic principles and best practices, participants will learn how to develop robust safeguard compliance strategies, ensuring the protection of communities and ecosystems.
Officials involved in planning, designing and managing government funded and donor (e.g. the World Bank, the African Development Bank) funded projects in the roads sector, energy and power sector, education sector, health sector, agriculture and irrigation sectors, and local government sectors.
