Gasper Casmir Njuu

Gasper Casmir Njuu is a Tanzanian career banker (retired) who now practises as an independent business consultant in investment, banking, finance and corporate governance. He possesses over 35 years of commercial and investment banking experience, with skills in product knowledge, operations, marketing, and relationship management. He is well-versed in client acquisition, structuring bank products and services, credit evaluation and approval, and management and control, and has served as an active board member.

He is further experienced in structuring unique corporate finance transactions for both the private and public (Government) sectors. He handled and coordinated five Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and launched Commercial Paper in Tanzania, and has pioneered the establishment of banks, set up a corporate bank and developed credit policies and procedures, including risk-acceptance criteria. He has been instrumental in developing business strategy, recruiting and training bank officers, pricing bank products competitively and structuring tailor-made cash-management solutions, and is strong in negotiations and corporate governance.

Mr. Njuu worked for National Bank of Commerce (12 years), Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Ltd (4 years) and Citibank Tanzania Ltd (16 years) until his voluntary retirement in June 2013. After four years in consultancy, he served as CEO of UBL (T) Limited (June 2018–December 2019), where he successfully led the merger and acquisition transaction in which UBL Bank (T) Ltd was sold to Exim Bank Tanzania Ltd. He serves on various boards of directors and is a part-time lecturer at the Institute of Finance Management.

He holds an Advanced Diploma in Banking and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management (Institute of Finance Management, Dar es Salaam) and an MBA in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, India. He speaks English and Kiswahili.
