Diaspora Management
Diaspora Management training provides an understanding of the diaspora and its potential within the context of talent management and economic development. The diaspora refers to individuals or communities who have migrated from their home country and settled in different parts of the world, maintaining cultural and emotional ties to their country of origin.
This training aims to equip organizations, governments, and professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage with the diaspora effectively. By recognizing the diaspora’s expertise, networks, and resources, diaspora management seeks to leverage their potential for economic, social, and cultural development in both their host countries and countries of origin.
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Enhance participants’ understanding of the concept of diaspora, its composition, and the opportunities and challenges of engaging with diaspora communities for development.
- Provide participants with practical skills and knowledge on developing effective strategies to engage with diaspora communities, including remittance-based activities, skills transfer, and social investment.
- Develop participants’ capacity building skills in leadership development, strategic planning, and developing sustainable funding models for diaspora organizations.
- Foster collaboration and partnership between diaspora communities, governments, and other stakeholders in promoting development within the diaspora’s home country.
- Develop participants’ intercultural competence and communication skills necessary for effectively engaging with diaspora communities.
- Promote advocacy and policy development to shape an enabling environment for effective diaspora engagement.
- Provide real-life examples and case studies as practical learning experiences to enable participants to apply the concepts learned in real-world scenarios.
