Prof. Stephen Irura Ng’ang’a

Prof. Stephen Irura Ng’ang’a, PhD, is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Garissa University, Kenya, and an accomplished academic, researcher, university administrator, and consultant with extensive experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, enterprise development, higher education management, strategic planning, and institutional development.

He holds a PhD in Planning from Maseno University, an MPhil in Entrepreneurship from Moi University, and an MSc in Forest Industries Technology from the University College of North Wales, United Kingdom, complemented by professional training in business management, technology and industrial education.

He has held senior university leadership positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for Finance, Administration and Planning at Garissa University. He has contributed extensively to research, postgraduate supervision, institutional transformation, resource mobilisation and multidisciplinary development initiatives.

His scholarly portfolio comprises more than 60 refereed publications and extensive international conference contributions spanning entrepreneurship, innovation, technology transfer, SME development, sustainable livelihoods, higher education, climate resilience and development.

His recent work increasingly integrates entrepreneurship with sustainable development, community resilience, indigenous knowledge, Open Science and inclusive development in Africa.

He has participated in and led multidisciplinary research and consultancy initiatives involving universities, government agencies, and international development organisations, and currently serves as a consultant with the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), contributing expertise in research, enterprise development, institutional strengthening, and evidence-informed development practice.
