Globally, the governments are undertaking reforms and transformations as a result of increasing costs and budget pressures, the changing needs of citizens. Some of these gravitate around digital platforms and digitalization. The rise of new technological breakthroughs and disruptions are increasingly mounting pressure on governments to up their game on matters service delivery. The character of public service employee is changing and so is the nature of work. Workspaces are being redefined, and so are workstyles. Frequency, scope, depth and complexity of supply chain disruptions poses huge threats to business continuity.
Governments are facing the challenge of managing in uncertainty by focusing on becoming more agile in their operations. Agile governments provide what citizens want, when they need it, regardless of external pressures and context. And they’re able to do this because they’re responsive, flexible, creative and attuned to citizens’ needs.
Governments must re-invent the ways they do business. They must rethink public service delivery channels, processes and envision institutions fit for new challenges and disruptions.
