ABOUT US
Background
The Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) is an intergovernmental
regional management development centre. ESAMI's head office is located in Arusha, Tanzania.
The institute was established with the primary objective of providing the region with trained
personnel in a number of critical areas including policy management, transportation management,
financial management, information technology management, health management, human resources
management, project management, energy and environment management and gender management among others.
The focus was to train middle to senior managers from the region to improve their managerial
performance taking into consideration the global issues but with a regional focus relevant to the
African environment.

Governance
ESAMI is owned by ten member governments: Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles,
Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Other countries which regularly participate in ESAMI management development programmes
include Lesotho, Botswana, South Africa, Angola, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Eritrea,
Ivory Coast, Liberia, Ghana, The Gambia, Sudan, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.

Partners

The Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA) was established in 2006 as a joint initiative of the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) and Lund University of Sweden, with funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
The Centre is hosted at the ESAMI headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

The aim of Round Table Africa is to dig deeper by focusing on the challenges of local industries acting within international contexts.
The single one issue development scholars do agree upon is the lack of entrepreneurship and actual investments in potentially successful value chains, in developing countries.
In order to create a conducive and enabling environment for sustainable economic development, value chain analyses in a comparative, either cross-country or cross-industries, setting should generate the knowledge required to steer the economy.
