ESAMI while hosting an executive course on the management of environmental and social safeguards in projects facilitated case analysis breakout groups for the participants and brought together professionals and experts from various from Liberia, The Gambia, Uganda, Kenya, and Malawi. They discussed and analysed real-world cases related to environmental and social issues in project management. The case analysis breakout groups provided a platform for participants to delve into the complex challenges and strategies involved in integrating environmental and social safeguards into project planning and implementation. The sessions aimed to enhance participants' understanding of sustainable project management practices and foster knowledge-sharing among professionals in the field. The participants were divided into smaller discussion teams, each tasked with analysing a specific case study related to environmental and social safeguards. The case studies encompassed a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure development, natural resource management, energy projects, and community- driven initiatives. Participants engaged in lively discussions exchanged experiences and explored innovative approaches to address environmental and social considerations in project management. Professor Mumba a renowned expert in project management and sustainable development and one of the facilitators of the courses emphasized the significance of integrating environmental and social safeguards in project management. He stated, "Environmental and social issues are critical aspects of project implementation. By analysing real-world cases, we are able to identify best practices, lessons learned, and effective strategies to ensure the sustainable and inclusive development of projects." ESAMI's commitment to fostering sustainable development and promoting responsible project management was evident through the organization of this course and how it was delivered. By bringing together professionals from diverse sectors, ESAMI aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the adoption of sustainable practices in project management across Eastern and Southern Africa.
