COURSE OVERVIEW
Planning ventures has become more and more complicated, with resources being scarce. Project managers are becoming more concerned with the economic use of the resources to deliver tangible results. They have to undertake tasks which are related to the use of schedules such as Gantt charts to plan and subsequently report progress within the project environment. Project planning is often used to organize different areas of a project, including project plans, workloads and the management of teams and individuals. The logical dependencies between tasks are defined using an activity network diagram that enables identification of the critical path. Quite often, project managers have to calculate float or slack time in the schedules to ensure that the necessary resources are estimated and made available for project implementation. It therefore becomes essential to manage and measure progress against the baseline schedule throughout the life of the project.
