COURSE OVERVIEW Parliaments play important functions in any country. These include making laws, overseeing the executive arm of government, representing citizens and seeking redress to their grievances and deliberating through asking questions, presenting motions and making statements. For parliament to effectively perform all these functions, staff working with members of parliament must be knowledgeable and multi- skilled.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Speakers of national parliaments, regional members of parliament and county assemblies, clerks at the table, senior assistant clerks at the table, parliamentary staff in committees and in budget office, other senior parliamentary staff such as planning, monitoring and evaluation departments and parliamentary liaison officers in government ministries.
