By the end of the course, participants will be able to prepare a summary of the approval & permitting requirements for a mining project identifying authorities, agencies and enabling legislation for the various project phases. The requirements of the various level of government including Federal, Provincial and the various Ministries and empowering agencies are reviewed. The scope of the regulatory framework includes the taxation regime, health and safety, resource management, environmental impact, etc, etc. A seamless relationship between government and the various government and other agencies is essential to ensure a successful project and minimize project risks.
To provide the necessary framework for the regulatory framework, the principles and practices of mineral exploration, development, operation, and mining methods will be explained. Most importantly, the key concepts, applications and terminology associated with acquisition, processing and interpretation of exploration and production data, lean technical processes involved in exploration and production will be examined.
At the end of the Programme, participants will be able to:-
- Identify aspects to be taken into account in assessing mining projects.
- Advice their organizations and governments on methodologies or techniques to be applied in analyzing potential revenue risks and opportunities associated with the mining projects.
- Undertake basic analysis related to projects financing, OPEX, CAPEX.
