The function of managing people in organizations formally commenced after the Industrial Revolution of the mid-18th century. Ever since the function has undergone paradigm shifts. Personnel management gave way to HRM and the focus now is on Strategic HRM and Human Capital Management (HCM). The implication of these shifts is changing the way we look at and manage Employees.
